Overview

Social Work combines the principles of social work with community empowerment and sustainable development. It equips you to address social issues at individual and community level, grounded in social welfare policy, human behaviour and ethical practice.

Units cover social research, psychosocial support, social policy and public administration, community awareness and sensitisation, advocacy and lobbying, conflict resolution, home-based care, child welfare programmes, case management and the management of community-based groups, with practical fieldwork through an industrial attachment.

Entry requirements

Diploma in Social Work

  • KCSE mean grade C− (minus); or
  • A Social Work Level 5 certificate with one year of continuous work experience; or
  • An equivalent qualification as determined by KNQA, and/or as guided by the relevant regulatory body.

Certificate in Social Work

  • KCSE mean grade D+ or equivalent; or
  • A Social Work Artisan Certificate; or
  • An equivalent qualification as determined by KNQA, and/or as guided by the relevant regulatory body.
